Membership Information

If you are interested in sailing at one of the best and friendliest sailing clubs in England then look no further. Harlow (Blackwater) Sailing Club is situated at Maylandsea on Lawling Creek, which is a tributary of the tidal River Blackwater, in East Essex, close to Chelmsford and Maldon.

Drawing members from throughout Essex, we aim to cater for all sailing tastes and abilities with our active dinghy, cruiser, windsurfing and kayaking/paddle boarding sections.

We are a membership based Club that encourages all of its members to participate in the life of the Club.For some this involves running various activities within the Club, for others it is an occasional trip in the safety boat or a helping hand on one of our work party days.

To ensure everyone can get the most out of their Club, it is organised and managed by a committee with annually elected officers from the membership. From time to time other groups are set-up to manage various projects from one-off events such as Regatta Week to Club development projects. If you would like to be involved, even in a small way, then email the committee and you can help/join the enthusiastic team that makes it all possible.

Day Sailing for Non Members

HBSC has an ideal sheltered bay for sailing dinghies, windsurfers and kayaks and paddle boarders on tidal waters. For Non Members the club has a Day Sailing ticket which can be obtained from the club bar. So if you are a inland water sailor and would like to try open water, check our calendar to see when the Club is open.  We also have great grounds to camp over a weekend on a prearranged appointment.  Click here for more information on the Day Sailing ticket.
